Theo Vos (Dutch sculptor) made in the mid twenties a group of five figures inspired by Gertrud Leistikow in three different sizes, of which this is the smallest one.
A few of them were executed in bronze in Holland.
Leistikow ( 1885-1948) was a German ballet dancer, choreographer and teacher who settled in Holland in 1921.
She was a pioneer of the modern dance movement in Europe.
